What another amazing weekend. The sun was shining, it was over 20 outside. I feel like summer is already here, and in fact there is only 6 weeks until summer. Which means there is only 6 weeks to complete as much as you can in your courses. Remember that you will not start at zero again the next year for your courses but will continue at the percentage you are at now. So don’t feel like “well there are only 6 weeks left so its pointless” because whatever you get done in those 6 weeks will count to next year.
Speaking of completing course work, Ms. Cody has teamed up with Ms. Calder (a former teacher at PCS) and is again offering an exciting option to complete a unit in Math. I’m sure Mr. Emoff has been cooking up something good as well. The school will be working in the common area from 10:00 to 11:00 for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the focus will be on weaving, math and cedar. On Wednesday we will be giving and extra special warm welcome to Ms. Fullerton who will be a special guest educator also working on the weaving math. This unit in math will tie in with a TREC to Metlakatla where we will be harvesting cedar with an elder. So get ready for an exciting week in math and weaving.
If all this fun is not enough, I will be confirming our potential TREC to the Khutzeymateen at the end of the month. In order to go on this TREC participation in the previous classes will be required. Additionally the school will be closed for this TREC to encourage all students and staff to attend in addition to it being our last major TREC of the year. The Khutzeymateen is a grizzly bear sanctuary and reserve. Yes thats right we have a high probability of seeing grizzly bears.
Our Grads did awesome with the Bake Sale. Great work Grads. I don’t know the final numbers yet for the Bake Sale but it was a success.
Remember it is a short week and May Long this weekend. There is no school Friday as it is a Pro-D. Additionally, I will be leaving Wednesday and I believe Ms. Wells will be filling in for me. Please treat her with even better respect than you would give me.
