PCS Restart Plan

As you already know, PCS has been accepting students on a voluntary basis for the last couple weeks. You might have heard that School District 52 will be accepting students on a voluntary basis starting June 1st, 2020. What does this mean for PCS? While not much will change for PCS as we have already been accepting all students on a voluntary basis, we want to be clear about the school structure for the next four weeks:

  • PCS will only allow a maximum of 14 students in the school at any one point in order to maintain social distancing requirements by BC’s Health Officer.
  • Students will enter the school from the door by Genetics Fitness rather than the main entrance.
  • All students will have access to the school for 1 full school day if they desire it.
  • If you feel like your student has extenuating circumstances and needs more than 1 full school day a week, please contact Mr. Janz to discuss this.
  • Student Group Times:
    • All Parents / Guardians have been contacted about which group their student is in; however, if for some reason you were not contacted, or have forgotten, please contact the school.
    • Morning Group – Monday through Thursday @ 8:45 – 10:00
    • Group 1 – Monday and Wednesday @ 12:30 – 1:45
    • Group 2 – Monday and Wednesday @ 2:00 – 3:10
    • Grad Group – Tuesday and Thursday @ 2:00 – 3:10
  • Students Scheduling a Time:
    • All students can schedule a time to attend school:
      • Monday through Thursday @ 10:20 – 11:35
      • Tuesday, Thursday & Friday @ 12:30 – 1:45
      • Friday @ 2:00 – 3:10 (Marlene Clifton will also be drumming with students during this time)
    • Scheduling during “Group Times”
      • Parents, guardians and students can also schedule an attendance time during group times if there is room available. Please call the school 45 minutes before the group time to schedule.
    • Online or Distance Education:
      • Students can still access their work from home in the following ways:
        • Online through Email, Moodle or Microsoft Teams.
        • Coming into the school to pick up schoolwork
        • Requesting a delivery of schoolwork to their house.
        • Contacting a staff member through phone, zoom or other acceptable manner to get help on work

Keeping Your Student Safe

During this time there is an understandable level of anxiety among our citizens about re-introducing their student to the school environment. Dr. Bonnie Henry and the BC Ministry of Health has made it clear that we can begin opening up schools in a safe way which protects ourselves, families and elders. PCS, and all SD52 Schools, will be taking all the recommended safety precautions to keep your student(s) safe. Here is an outline for how PCS will be keeping your student safe:

  • Limiting attendance to 14 students at a time
  • Maintaining a 2-metre distance for all student workstations.
  • Sanitizing each student workstation after use
  • Clear floor markers and directions to maintain 2-metre distance
  • Ample hand sanitizer and soap for students, staff and visitors.
  • Separate entrance for Students and Visitors.
  • Limited building access to just students and staff. Visitors will not be allowed access except for under specific and special circumstances.

For a complete outline and in-depth model of how we are maintaining your student’s safety please check out PCS’s and SD52’s Exposure Control Plan by going to the links below. We can also provide a printed copy if requested:

If your student is sick, or there is a sick student is at PCS, that student will be asked to leave, take the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool and not return for 2 weeks unless they have a Doctor’s note. For more information check out PCS’s Exposure Control Plan link above.

We look forward to working with your student whether onsite or offsite.
