Pacific Coast School is a caring educational space which supports the needs of our diverse student population. We are classified as a Category 3 facility which means there is a stronger focus on the social/emotional and psychological health and wellness needs of our learners.
PCS staff support students by providing judgment free social / emotional support and frequently refer students to school counselors or outside supports such as CYMH when necessary. As other schools do, we focus on academics; however, we also provide differentiated instruction as well as provide extra support to students who struggle with emotional self-regulation.
Our school views student behaviour and student challenges through a trauma informed practical lens and integrates a harm reduction policy related to substance use. PCS’s primary goal is to first to provide a space where students feel safe, secondly to provide healthy adult connections to students, thirdly to provide a safe social-emotional space and finally to provide academic success for all students.
